On-the-go recycling drive launched in the Peak District

  • Posted On: 30/07/2010 12:01:22

Headed by Buxton Natural Mineral Water, a new recycling drive has been launched in the Peak District. The initiative is focusing on on-the-go recycling in Buxton, making it easier for residents and visitors to recycle whilst out and about in the region.

At the start of the project, eighteen new ‘on-the-go’ recycle stations will be installed throughout the town of Buxton. Each of these stations will have three clear sections for different types of waste. These are:

•    General waste
•    Aluminium cans
•    Plastic bottles

It is hoped that by the end of August 2010 there will be as many as 26 recycle stations installed, giving local residents even more recycling opportunities.

The project is a partnership between plastics waste management firm Recoup, High Peak Borough Council and Buxton Natural Mineral Water. High Peak Mayor, Councillor Graham Oakley, had this to say about his town’s new initiative:

"The Recycle on the Go initiative is the first of its kind to launch in Buxton,"

"The campaign objectives to increase awareness of recycling on the go and deliver an uplift of recyclable material will position Buxton as a more sustainable town."
