Case Study > Spires Shopping Centre The one stop shop for Spires Shopping Centre The Problem
ACM Waste Management Plc has provided cardboard recycling solutions for the Spires Shopping Centre in Hertfordshire for almost four years, but as the centre has grown so has the volume of waste that it produces. The increase in waste reached a level whereby the existing machinery was struggling to cope with the sheer volume of card being generated every day. The SolutionTo deal with the problem ACM supplied a new large, twin chamber baler which, has made a dramatic impact on the evergrowing mountain of cardboard. The new baler has not only made the waste area much tidier, the bales are much easier to store and waste collections have been reduced significantly. Client CommentThe facilities contract at the Shires Shopping Centre is managed by Incentive FM and facilities manager, Richie Spedding, explained: “The new baler is fantastic and the difference it has made is absolutely amazing. “It is more efficient and has saved us so much time. For example, previously it would take a member of staff all day to deal with the cardboard but since the installation of the new baler it only takes between 25 minutes to an hour. For the first time ever our waste area is free of cardboard at the end of every day”. He further added “We all love the new baler because it has made our lives so much easier, in fact, we love it so much we have even given it a name – Godzilla!” |
