At the heart of our organisation is ACM's environmental policy and it is our hope that we can embed some of these core values into your business and guide you down an even Greener Path: We are adamant that good environmental practice is a money saver as well as a planet saver and as such:

• ACM is committed to be the leading waste management implementer and campaigner for waste management practices that minimise businesses environmental impact. In particular ACM seeks to highlight all activities that contribute towards global warming especially those waste related activities that, if managed correctly, could indeed slow down the global warming process.
  
• ACM is not a company that simply preaches but we indeed practice daily "walking the talk" and consequently ACM has become the first waste management company to completely offset its total carbon footprint plus 10%, therefore not only neutralising our negative environmental impact but additionally setting out to repair our inadvertent historical damage. If every business followed this example and worked towards Zero Carbon emissions and the principles of contraction and convergence (a global strategic solution to tackling climate change …… click here for more details ) then global warming as we know it could be stopped in its tracks. ACM's business products and services are extremely effective in reducing transport related carbon emissions and landfill related carbon emissions.
  
• ACM are members of the All Party Committee on Climate Change and working very closely with a number of leading climate/environmental organisations such as Climate Care , the Global Commons Institute and the ZSL just to name but a few.
  
• ACM is a business that we believe falls in the business for good category with 2.5% of our annual profits being donated to the ZSL charity to help promote its work on the preservation of habitat and the protection of biodiversity.

The Managing Director has specific responsibility for policy development, co-ordination and evaluation of performance. ACM Waste Management plc is committed to minimising the impact of its operations on the environment by means of a programme of continuous improvement. In particular our Company will:

1. Ensure appropriate resources will continually be made available to ensure the environmental policy is implemented in full.
   
2. Discuss environmental issues with all employees, conduct training programs and encourage best implementation practice by all Company personnel.
   
3. Meet and where appropriate, exceed the requirements of all relevant legislation - where no regulation exists we shall set our own exacting standards.
   
4. Communicate with our clients on environmental issues through proactive assistance.
   
5. Work with our suppliers and sub-contractors to minimise the impact of their operations on the environment through a quality purchasing policy.
   
6. Seek to reduce the following:
   
   • Consumption of materials in all operations, re-use rather than dispose wherever possible, and to promote re-cycling and the use of re-cycled materials.
   • Whenever and wherever practicable the level of pollution and harmful emissions.
   • Noise, visual and other impacts on the local environment.
   • Regular review and monitoring of environmental performance will be actioned to ensure our environmental objectives and targets as described above are maintained at all times.
