Innovation & technology
Innovation is an intrinsic part of any new ACM Greener Path Programme. For many years ACM has developed and utilized a range of technologies designed to minimise both waste/recycling haulage costs and in turn, emissions. The use of specialist waste/recycling systems has been at the heart of ACM’s solutions, ensuring that operationally, our clients benefit from world-class efficiency and safety with any impact on the environment dramatically reduced or even eliminated. Below are just a few examples of recent ACM developments;
STATE OF THE ART COMPACTOR WITH WEIGHING SYSTEM
This communal waste management system is perfect for shopping centres and other multi-occupant premises including residential developments, of ce blocks and retail / business parks.
With its unique swipe card entry, this waste compactor has its own weighing system allowing property managers to fairly and accurately split the cost of waste disposal with multi-occupants. Each user has a unique swipe card so when they open the machine and place their waste
in it, the machine weighs the waste and keeps a record. When the machine is full a report is generate showing the quantities of waste produced by each individual user.
AESTHETICALLY DESIGNED COMMUNAL UNDERGROUND BIN SYSTEM
For small volumes, in public areas, these smaller underground bins are both aesthetically pleasing and extremely ef cient. With a swipe card system these bins range in volume from 5m3 (approx 500 kg) and incorporate an integrated weighing chamber.
FOOD WASTE & PACKAGED FOOD DRYER
These heavy-duty food waste reduction systems can process catering wastes and also packaged foods into valuable biomass and recyclables. Simple to use and low maintenance the system can reduce the volume and mass of wastes by up to 90%.
The dried powdered residues can be used in biomass systems to create heat and hot water for your site, reducing your spend on utilities.
Our unique, web-based interface, ESP, through which you can order, check, buy, monitor and record every waste stream has always been at the cutting edge and we have now improved it further with the introduction of an innovative carbon calculator.
Our calculator will produce a set of tables and charts showing the CO2 produced from your waste dependent on the type of waste or recyclables and the method of treatment or disposal. It will compare the results with what would have happened if everything had been land lled.
Based on DEFRA of cial gures, our Carbon Calculator tool will provide the following reports:
- Carbon footprint in tonnes of CO2
- Carbon footprint by month
- Carbon savings
- Carbon footprint by waste type
- Comparison of carbon footprint by selected periods Trees saved through card and paper recycling
