St George’s School install an EcoVend machine

St George’s Secondary School in Kent is one of the first schools in the country to install one of our reverse vending machines. The school values sustainability and is keen to educate its pupils on the importance of recycling.

The introduction of the reverse vending machine means students can claim house points or a 5p drink discount voucher every time they enter an empty plastic bottle or aluminium can into the machine.

There are approximately 18 million plastic bottles used every year and currently only 50% of those are recycled. Reverse vending machines are great for engaging people in recycling while benefiting from discount vouchers.

Hopefully, this will be the first of many reverse vending machines to be installed in schools.
