SELFRIDGES DITCHES PLASTIC BOTTLES

Leading high-end retailer, Selfridges has pledged to stop selling plastic bottles of water as part of its Project Ocean initiative - the initiative , backed by our client, ZSL aims to reduce the enormous volumes of deadly plastics that end up in the world's oceans.

Sales of plastic water bottles in the UK are estimated at £2bn a year but Selfridges want to raise awareness of the devastating affect these bottles can have if they end up in our oceans.  Although the majority of plastic water bottles are recyclable, Professor Jonathan Baillie, from the Zoological Society, said: 'The staggering volume of plastic entering our oceans every year is having a devastating effect on marine wildlife, from tiny corals to whales'.

Selfridges will be installing a water fountain for their customers to use to re-fill their own bottles - cutting down on the 400,000 bottles they currently sell.
